when creating the set & styling for this series, I did so intending to go further then just aesthetics. we wanted to get a deeper message across.
birthdays represent a reflection on celebrating a trip around the sun- with a day full of expectations and feelings of guilt. feelings towards food as comfort, disordered eating, and the need to hide these feelings from others. we go to lengths to get the “perfect” picture to post, to show others that we are “happy!”, & gain the want/need for external validation. there is madness in the ways we let social media dictate our self worth.
so heres our not so perfect birthday post. a pity party.
